Freediving can become not only an individual hobby, but also a hobby for the whole family. Children’s freediving today is a trend that is gaining immense popularity. A family united by a love of water and who knows how to dive properly usually has a lot of fun and amicable time on holidays!

It all starts with baby swimming – children who do not leave contact with water from birth develop harmoniously, with the help of baby swimming, some of the health problems of babies are solved. Such swimming can be done with an instructor, but almost all of them say that such swimming has a greater effect when parents are involved in the process.

Further, on their own (without parents), children can go diving from the age of four in groups divided by age and skill. Such classes are held in pools and open water. During children’s freediving classes, babies are not forced to hold their breath and endure, as it seems to many ignorant people. If you look deeper, you can find out that children under a certain age do not have processes at all that could make them endure severe discomfort from holding their breath.

Children’s freediving is an activity where the child is taught to swim and, most importantly, to interact with the water. Thanks to this, a very close contact with the aqueous medium is achieved. This approach sharply distinguishes children’s freediving from other activities in the water, such as swimming classes.

In a young freediver, not only the body changes (the volume of the lungs increases, the heart rate at rest decreases, the muscle corset becomes stronger, but also psychologically such children are slightly different: they treat the aquatic environment with great respect and understanding as they are in greater contact with it.

This aspect is especially clearly observed when training in open water, where the child is surrounded by aquatic inhabitants.

Freediving for children is more difficult than for adults. This is due to the rapidly changing organism of the child with age and the characteristics of the age psyche. Each age group has its own – individual – approach when creating a training program and its presentation.

In theoretical classes, older children are told in detail about the history of diving, the World Ocean and its inhabitants, about the basics of physics and physiology. Through interesting stories and comparisons of man with marine life, children gain knowledge about the World Ocean, the man in it and the similarity of man with marine life.

Thus, freediving becomes not only a useful physical activity, another reason to spend time together, but also one of the most effective, organic and natural ways to learn about the World Ocean and feel the connection of a person with it, both for adults and for children from an early age.

Children should, of course, practice diving under the tireless supervision of a professional instructor. And adults can join them and go freediving with toddlers on vacation at the seaside or in the pool with our basic online courses.
